How to Install Apps on Nokia Symbian Touch Phones and N900
We've been asked to give short instructions on how to install applications on Nokia Symbian touch phones and on Nokia N900 so next we'll briefly explain what options there are.
1. Nokia Symbian Touch Phones
Installing apps and themes on, for example, Nokia 5800 is quite simple. You need to connect your phone to your PC either via bluetooth or with a cable. Naturally you also need to download the app/theme from our directory to your PC.
Bluetooth
Activate the bluetooth on your phone. This can be done by accessing settings - connectivity - bluetooth (on, shown to all). Once your bluetooth is activated, go back to your PC, open the folder where the application file (.sis) is and right-click it. Then choose Send to - Bluetooth Device. The program should be able to find your phone and then just choose it and press next.
Cable
Connect your phone and your PC with the cable. When your phone asks you which mode to choose, press PC Suite. Then open the folders on your phone (you can use, for example, Installs- folder) and then simply copy-paste the application file from your PC to your phone. Then safely disconnect your phone from your PC and go to Applications and File Manager. From there you can open the Installed Files - folder and double-click on the app that you've installed. The install starts automatically.
2. Nokia N900
Notice that most N900 apps have a different ending than Symbian apps - .install instead of .sis. With N900 you can use bluetooth like with Symbian devices. However, Bluetooth is slightly more complicated with N900. First you have to go to the settings, click on bluetooth and although there's a text saying ”bluetooth on”, you still have to click it to activate it. After this, another text appears saying ”visible”. Click it, too, to activate it. This is the only way your computer can find your device, in this case N900. After this you send the file from your PC to your phone, accept the file on your phone by clicking save. In some cases you can see a disclaimer text at this point (just click I agree). Return to the main view and click the icon on the top-left and choose the option ”more” and you should find your app there.
